We would never dream of forcing you to do something. That's why our bar is compatible with all 35mm clamp stems. We think that you should only have to buy a stem when you really need it. Your money is probably better invested in a fun trail weekend with friends.

It's hard to make a general recommendation here. If weight reduction is your main priority, then you won't be able to avoid the carbon model. It's over 100 g lighter than our aluminium mountainbike bar. That said, the aluminium version offers the best value for money and is a fit and forget product.

Our carbon mtb bar was created on the basis of our personal requirement for a sturdy and lightweight carbon bar with a 35mm clamp for our trail bikes. To turn it into reality, we called in help from carbon specialists all ahead composites. The result is our made in Germany mtb carbon bar. The "in mould stack up" makes it possible to create a layup that is tuned to the loads and forces experienced during riding. In this process, the individual carbon plys are put in place layer by layer based on a predetermined plan in a mould. The upper and lower part of the bar are particularly sturdy thanks to the unidirectional reinforcement, while the sides and reduced wall thicknesses result in significant weight savings. In combination with the 35 mm clamp diameter, that provides an unbeatable combination of the best strength and low weight. The stability of our bars is underlined by their gold-standard "Multiload MTB" rating, tested by the independent Zedler Institute.

If the 780 mm width of our carbon mtb bar is too much, you can cut it down to 760 mm. Unfortunately, for technical reasons you can't cut go any further. It's important to make sure that you don't damage the carbon fibre while cutting it. To make sure nothing goes wrong, we're currently working on a detailed guide to help you.

The 35mm clamp results in a larger clamping area between the stem and bar. In addition, the larger cross-section of a 35 mm compared to a 31.8 mm diameter permits the same stiffness with less material or increased stiffness for the same amount of material. In practice, this means that with a 35 mm clamp you can optimise the weight of your cockpit without having to sacrifice stability.

During installation, you should stick to the specified torque for the clamp. Make sure to use the carbon paste that we provide with the mtb carbon bar too. It ensures that the bar will stay securely in place at the correct torque, even across the roughest of trails.
